FGBI ON THE MOVE

FINISHING THE COURSE

Many changes have taken place on the campus of FGBI over the past few years.
The 90's were marked by the construction of the David J. Beam Memorial Library. This impressive structure of over 20,000 volumes of some
of the finest Biblical reference materials available. Approximately 5,000 of these volumes were recently acquired as a donation from Michael Johnson and Ryan Timmons of Goshen, Indiana.
At the dedication of this library, we introduced a proposal to build a duplex for faculty housing.  A few months later we were blessed by a generous donation from Cleo Brock of Dayton, Ohio.   It seemed as though the project was off to a great start. What a shock it was to hear the officials of our local municipality inform us that it was not legal to build a duplex on our property.  We were told that we were not zoned for multi-family residences. We politely informed them of our present structures which include three dormitories, one of which has three residences attached to it.  All of this made no difference since these structures were “grandfathered” in.
Our goal then became to build two separate houses.  With the services of Engineer Frank Ring, a long time friend of FGBI, we modified our site plan extensively to meet every requirement of the municipality.  We finally received permission to go forward after many months of preparation.

The generosity of one often inspires others. This was the case as construction began. Rev. Jim Suits and Rev. Rick Binkley gathered together a volunteer framing crew.  They arrived one Monday afternoon to a block foundation.  When they left on Friday, a crew from the Free Gospel Churches was shingling the roof!
Progress was sporadic over the following months as several donated time, labor, and materials to move the project forward.  The wiring was done by Bro. Frank Sforza, the plumbing by Darren McNutt, the drywall was hung by FGBI students, and the finishing was completed by Boyd Saville.

did a fantastic job “rag-rolling” the interior and Rev. Jim Hawk did the finishing trim work.

We are amazed at how God has helped us to construct a quality built home with such an inexpensive price tag.  As of this writing, we have spent less than $85,000.00 to build this 2,000 square foot home.
Much of this can be attributed to volunteer labor, donated materials, and the decision to buy much of the interior trim and flooring at prices less than wholesale.      Click to enlarge.

We have been able to build using quality materials at cost effective prices.
Although it has taken longer than we had hoped to complete the project, consolation is found in the great amount of money that was saved utilizing volunteer labor.

We are anticipating approval of all final inspections any day now.  We would like to extend an invitation to each of you to visit us any time you are in the area
We also hope that you will pray with us that God will enable us to erect the second home more quickly and as efficiently as we have erected this one.

Once again, we wish to thank Cleo Brock for his generosity as well as all of those who have labored to make the first half of this vision a reality.

Several others also labored with us in this endeavor.

PROVISION BY THE PALLET LOAD! - A GIFT TO FGBI

Have you ever purchased food by the pallet?  Have you ever had to fill out paperwork for the government because your grocery bill totaled over $10,000.00?    We had never experienced such a thing until recently when we checked out at Sam’s Club.  The cashier with 8 years experience, and the manager with 15 years experience had never seen anything like it either.  What an opportunity it was to tell them of God’s goodness!

As students unloaded the  groceries, cries of “We got cheese!”  “We got beans!”  “We got Barbecue Sauce!”   were heard across

the campus. We were also blessed with 96 pork loins, and 36 pork roasts! Pork chops and pulled pork sandwiches now grace our menu!

We have enjoyed the blessing of the Lord as he has miraculously provided some of the best food in FGBI history.  Faith still prevails even in hard times!

We appreciate our cook, Sis. Nikki Willis, who has worked diligently taking ordinary food and turning it into some of the finest meals we have ever had.

Living by faith is living faithfully.  God rewards diligence! We appreciate both the labor and the gift that was given
